Viral marketing increases the amount of viewers without the need for further advertising. An example would be a blank text box to type in your friend's email to tell them about a certain web-site.

The idea is to get enough visitors to recommend or pass along your web link to others and those people doing the same thing. This interesting method can have a snowballing effect that will spread like wildfire! At the same time others are looking at your message, you are receiving ads that you are required to look at in exchange.
